BAD AMPLITUDE was designed from the ground up to be a battery powered electric drag racing vehicle. We spent most of last season blowing things up. Since we have already blown up each part once, we won't have to do it again this year!
Current Eliminator

For Dennis Berube, the concept of designing and building an electric-powered dragster came from dreams he had while racing electric slot cars as a kid. Dennis truly believed that there was more to the electric vehicle than simply being a golf cart. After three years of research, Dennis was convinced that his dreams were feasible.

In September of 1991, Dennis asked Fast Lane Products to design and build the chassis. As the chassis was constructed, Dennis ordered the electric motor and began design work on the vehicle's power and control systems. By December, the original Current Eliminator was complete and testing had already begun. After experimenting with the clutch for several weeks, a decision was made to switch to a 4-speed transmission. Following the transmission change, several weeks were then spent analyzing the electrical system and overall vehicle operation.

Circut Breaker
Records: NEDRA class DR/B record holder (10.550 sec @ 115.066 mph)
Driver: Jim Ludiker -- Sponsor: KTA Services
The closest electric-powered competition to Kilowatt Berube is none other than the Jim Ludiker and KTA Services dragster, Circuit Breaker. On Saturday, November 18, 2000 at Los Angeles County Raceway, Circuit Breaker was taken to a NEDRA record time of 10.550 seconds (for dragsters between 193-240 volts). With a full battery pack, Ludiker's dragster competes in the same division as Dennis, and has recorded a top run of 9.446 seconds.

Manic Mazda
Originally developed for circle track racing, this bright red 1979 Mazda RX-7 was winner of the C-Stock class at the 1993 APS Solar and Electric 500 held at Phoenix International Raceway, the fastest one mile oval in the United States. Retired from the circle track when competition class changes favored larger cars, the RX-7 was reworked for the drag strip.
Turning a slow 90 mph in 14.7 seconds ET at the '96 APS Electrics on 1 March 1996, driver Roderick Wilde still beat the second quickest EV, a specially prepared General Motors Impact, by 2.25 seconds.
White Zombie
Records: NEDRA class SC/A record holder (13.186 sec @ 99.19 mph)
1972 Datsun 1200 2-door economy sedan, all steel body
Driver: John Wayland

John's 'White Zombie' reigns as the world's quickest street-legal electric vehicle in the quarter mile (see record above). The 'Zombie releases over 200 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque. Estimates are that John's Datsun will do 0-60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds!
